Millowvale · George Town, Penang
A quiet, steady place for families who need to be heard.
← Back to HomeMillowvale is not a law firm, counselling practice, or financial advisory. We offer general facilitation and clerical organisation. For matters requiring professional licensing, we provide a practitioner directory at the end of each programme.
Our story
How Millowvale came to be
Millowvale was founded in George Town in 2019 by a small group of people who had, over many years, spent time sitting with families during difficult periods — and noticed that what was often missing was not advice, but structure. A place to speak in turn. A written record of what had been said. Someone to keep time without taking sides.
The name comes from the image of a register kept in a quiet meadow — long rows, patient entries, nothing crossed out without reason. That image describes what we try to offer: a space where what is said is recorded carefully, where the pace is set by the family rather than the clock, and where no one leaves wondering what was decided.
We are not counsellors, mediators, solicitors, or financial advisors. We do not interpret, advise, represent, or correspond in anyone's name. What we do is facilitate and keep records — clearly, neutrally, and with care for the people in the room.
Over six years working with families across Penang and Kedah, we have developed a set of session formats and record-keeping tools that have been refined through use. They are not complex; they are simply consistent, which is often what a family needs most.
Our founding principle
Every person in the room deserves equal time to speak, and every word spoken deserves to be written down accurately. These two things, done consistently, make a material difference to how families navigate difficult periods.
What we are not
We are frequently asked whether we provide legal advice, counselling, or financial planning. We do not. Millowvale is explicitly not those things. Where formal professional help is needed, we say so directly and provide a curated directory of registered practitioners in Penang and Kedah.
Working in George Town
Our office is on Lebuh Pantai, a few minutes from the heritage core of George Town. We have worked with families across Pulau Pinang and up into Kedah. Sessions can be held at our office or at a neutral venue of the family's choosing.
The people at Millowvale
Our coordinators
Suriani Low
Lead Coordinator
Suriani has been facilitating family communication sessions in Penang since 2016 and holds a postgraduate qualification in organisational communication from Universiti Sains Malaysia. She manages the session structure and keeps the written minute for each meeting.
Raj Nair
Register and Records Coordinator
Raj is responsible for assembling and indexing the document registers in our retainer programmes. He has a background in archival administration and brings a methodical approach to the chronology and handover materials that families receive at programme close.
Yee Ching Tan
Programme Administrator
Yee Ching manages scheduling, template preparation, and the keeping-track sheets that go out between programme sessions. She is the first point of contact for families when they reach out and handles the practical side of programme enrolment and session coordination.
How we work
Our operational standards
Written agenda before every session
An agenda is prepared and agreed by all participants before any session begins. Nothing is discussed that is not on it, and nothing on it is skipped without agreement.
Neutral language in all minutes
Every word in a session minute is in neutral language. The coordinator does not paraphrase, interpret, or add opinion. The record says what was said, not what the coordinator thought about it.
Data handled with strict care
Session records and family documents are stored securely and shared only as directed by the family. At programme close, all original material is returned and Millowvale retains no copy.
Scope explained before engagement
Before any programme begins, we set out in writing what we do, what we do not do, and what the family can expect to receive. No engagement starts without that written understanding.
Practitioner directory at close
Every session and programme ends with a curated directory of registered professionals in Penang and Kedah — solicitors, counsellors, financial planners — for families who need formal guidance after the programme.
Consistent process across all programmes
The same structure, the same templates, and the same record-keeping standards apply to every family and every session. Consistency is a service, not just a quality measure.
Our values
What family communication support looks like in practice
Families navigating shared decisions — about ageing parents, estate matters, property, or long-standing disagreements — often find that the difficulty is not the substance of the issue but the process of discussing it. People speak over each other, or not at all. Agreements made in one conversation are forgotten or disputed in the next. Documents sit in drawers without any shared understanding of what they say or where they came from.
Millowvale works at this level. We do not address the substance — that is the domain of solicitors, financial advisors, and registered counsellors. What we address is the process: who speaks when, what is written down, and how the family keeps track of where things stand between sessions.
In George Town and across Penang, where families often bring together members with different language preferences, professional backgrounds, and levels of familiarity with formal processes, a neutral facilitated space can serve a practical purpose. It slows things down enough for each person to be heard, and it produces a written record that everyone receives.
The families who find our work most useful tend to be those managing matters across generations or across distances — where there is no single point of communication, and where a consistent written record has value for everyone involved. We offer that record, and the sessions that produce it, as a standalone service.
